Is there a relation to colon polyps and prostate cancer

is there a relation to colon polyps and prostate cancer?
My husband had colon polyps 15 years ago and is now diagnosed with prostate cancer. Could there be a relationship to that?

The only relationship is that your husband has cancer and will require lots of check ups. Both of these are curable and you all are lucky....
2 :
no, there is no relationship

That is a good question because my grandfather-in-law had prostate cancer 13 years ago and has an appointment to see if he has polyps.. Never thought of that maybe it is.. I am going to ask that question tomorrow, that's when his appointment is.

Prostate Cancer is actually quite common in men. Each year, around 27,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer in the UK, making it the most common cancer in men. Some men may never have any symptoms or problems from the disease. Some types of prostate cancer can be slow-growing and may not become a serious threat to your health. Whereas others are a faster-growing and aggressive form and can be more harmful. Without seeing your husbands notes it is hard to make this diagnosis. Polyps are growths which develop in the colon and other parts of the body as well. They vary in size and appearance. They may look like a wart when small and when they grow they may appear like a cherry on a stem or fig. They are important because they can with time turn into cancer. Sometimes they can bleed causing anemia. A polyp is defined as a growth that projects, often on a stalk, from the lining of the intestine or rectum Hope this helps a little Clive Jenkins Detox Diets & Colon Cleansing http://www.detox-diet-plan.com

Short answer no! Not in any statistical sense but older men are susceptible to both colon cancer and prostate cancer as a group so exam becomes necessary for both

I have recently started smoking and am wondering about prostate cancer

I have recently started smoking and am wondering about prostate cancer.?
Okay well first off I am 15 years old and have recently started smoking regular marlboros. I have been having to urinate more frequently throughout the night especially and I am wondering what the chances are that I may have prostate cancer. I know it is early especially for my age and the recentness of the smoking... And the age... Just wanted to get this off my chest.
Ps I know it's a bad habbit but I don't want any answers saying "you should stop" I know of the risks.

Relax.. if everyone who smoked weed got prostate cancer, half the country would have it. I have never head of a major link between the two, and furthurmore prostate cancer at your age is unheard of. Infact its basically unhead of under 40.

Why can't we have blue accents at women's events for prostate cancer awareness

Why can't we have blue accents at women's events for prostate cancer awareness?
I find the pink at NFL events both distracting and extremely annoying. I don't need to be reminded that breast cancer is a devastating condition that needs both research and funding. It the "pink" needs to be, then there ought to be an equally annoying reciprocal at women's events (perhaps a "blue balls" logo or electric blue ice skates at figure skating competition to raise awareness of testicular or prostate cancer.

Sir, you have just made my day and earned 10 internets.

LOL Double standards suck

Or Nancy Pelosi with her head up her butt, to raise awareness of liberal stupidity. (Is that an official disease yet?) Wow, 5 thumbs ups? I guess them Libs better close their eyes when the elections are here ;)

I will fight for your balls. Give me a ribbon.

I really required a concerted effort to raise the profile of breast cancer awareness. You see, the Congress and many private benefactors kept the funding for prostate cancer much higher than that for breast cancer for many decades. This is despite breast cancer having much higher incidence and mortality rates. Why the difference? Congress and the private benefactors were overwhelmingly male. I'm sorry that you find the pink at the NFL events so distracting. I wonder if the Commissioner found it as distracting when his mother died of breast cancer?
6 :
That's funny AND a good idea.
7 :
Rob B: You've been misinformed. The occurrence rate AND the death rate for prostate cancer in men is higher than the rates for breast cancer in women.

But that would be sexist. I can't believe I'm answering this, I get into enough arguments about this kind of thing on other sections. To some extent I agree with you. I can't really knock the NFL for supporting the fight against breast cancer. The issue I have is why there is so much focus on one type of cancer to begin with. At this point, who in the heck is NOT aware of breast cancer? I'm actually beginning to wonder if awareness of other types of cancers isn't going down. I do wonder what men who have had breast cancer think of the sole focus on women as well. Yes, men can and do get breast cancer, though it is admittedly rare (I think about 2-3% of all breast cancer cases). I don't want to necessarily stop the breast cancer stuff, I just wish it wasn't a complete and total focus on exactly ONE type of cancer. There are awareness programs for other types of cancer, especially prostate cancer, but they don't have anywhere near the same pull as breast cancer awareness does. People have to change this.
