Could someone corroborate that abstinence of sex is a risk factor to prostate cancer

Could someone corroborate that abstinence of sex is a risk factor to prostate cancer?
I remember reading that priests, monks etc showed a higher incidence of prostate cancer due to abstinence but I have not been able to find it again. just off the press. For example, men who reported 21 or more ejaculations per month in their 40s had a 32% lower risk of prostate cancer later in life compared with those who reported between four and seven ejaculations per month. Men who reported more than 21 monthly ejaculations in the previous year had a 51% lower risk of prostate cancer. Overall, an average of 21 or more ejaculations a month during a man's lifetime decreased the risk of prostate cancer later in life by 33%. And each increase of three ejaculations per week during a man's lifetime was associated with a 15% reduction in prostate cancer risk.
Ejaculation May Lower Prostate Cancer Risk The findings, published in the April 7 issue of The Journal of the American Medical Association, are based on data collected from nearly 30,000 predominately white men aged 46 to 81.

"Some investigators have suggested that sexual abstinence may contribute to prostate cancer risk, but there is no consistent evidence to support this contention despite multiple studies in the past 30 years" See link in source.

This is one of those times where it doesn't pay to wait for all the evidence to be in. As long as ejaculation doesn't hurt you, keep doing it in the hopes that it may prevent bad things.

Turmeric as a supplement when battling prostate cancer

Turmeric as a supplement when battling prostate cancer?
I bought it as I heard it was helpful for psoriasis (didn't help me.) My boyfriend is battling inoperable late-stage prostate cancer and he heard turmeric has show to shrink the tumor but that it has to be cooked. Anyone know anything about this?

Turmeric is supposed to be one of the better anti-inflammatory substances. One theory is that inflammation is involved with causing cancer. But even if it is actually a side effect of cancer, it would probably make him feel better.

If your boyfriend has the presence of mind to do what he needs to do, then click on the link below and follow the regime found on that page. Also, there is another link explaining the concept and why he has a decent chance of beating his cancer, even at a late stage. Do some research on the web and look for anything posted by or about Dr F Batmanghelidj. He spent over 20 years discovering the concept that most of people's health problems are caused by dehydration, and by correcting the dehydration, most problems will heal themselves - even the so-called "incurables" such as cancer. Of course, you're welcome to believe whatever you want, but if it were me, I'd be looking down any alley that offered a light of hope, especially at such a late stage. I have 100% faith in the treatment. Even if you don't, it involves water, salt and a few supplements that the body needs anyway (and is not getting enough of). It doesn't interfere with any medications or treatment, and is practically free (there might be an investment in the supplements). Please look at it and consider it. To be honest, I can't say 100% for sure that it will help because I don't know how far advanced the cancer is - but if it does help, the only thing I ask is that you share the experience and help others.

While I do not believe that any supplement will help in his fight against prostate cancer, turmeric is said to lessen the discomfort from gynecomastia (breast tenderness) in men receiving anti-androgen therapy like Casodex. It certainly could not hurt him either as turmeric is a natural substance. You want the fresh root (probably from a health food store) and not the dried kind. It is not hot or spicy and can be added to foods. As with anything, please inform his doctors that he is using this substance (and any other supplements) so they are well informed. You and your boyfriend may want to seek out your local chapter of Us, Too, the prostate cancer support group. These are men that have been through all different treatments and can give firsthand advice.

Tumeric is an anti inflammatory and contains an ingredient called curcumin (not the same as cumin) that can inhibit cancer cells. In laboratory studies tumeric slowed the spread of cancer and shrunk tumours in animals. 7 best anti cancer foods: http://www.asiaone.com/Health/Eat%2BRight/Food%2BWatch/Story/A1Story20070606-12234.html Alternative treatment that has shown good results at reversing cancer is a 75% - 100% raw diet and getting rid of stress. If a doctor said that your prostate cancer is a 7 on a scale 1 to 10 what exactly does that mean

If a doctor said that your prostate cancer is a 7 on a scale 1 to 10 what exactly does that mean?
I'm 19 years old and I found out my grandpa has prostate cancer. My parents told me the doctors said it's a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10. I don't know much about this, so any information or websites about this would be greatly appreciated.
I just want to be able keep up with them when they give us more detailed information.

Been there!! When the PSA blood test comes out above 4 and shows increase a biopsy is done. The 7 score is after a biopsy and is called the Gleason Scale . 7 is not all that bad. The age of your grandfather and other factors come into play. Choices are watchful waiting , surgery , radiation ( add chemo and hormone treatment if needed. I elected radiation . There was no pain except going there under the machine for 5 minutes 5 days a week for 8 weeks. Noe comes the part that they do not tell you. Any time for 2 years after radiation you might get radiation proctosis or bleeding from the rectum and/or lymph edema leg swelling. My cancer is gone , my PSA is .036 BUT I bleed and wear depends and take water pills at age 80
