I'm sure the surgeon knows what he's doing and your dad going to be alright. Good Luck!

There are 53,000,000 surgeries performed in the US each year. You probably hear about all the ones that don't go well on the TV. Doctors are very, very, very good at what they do...

No, surgery is not a guarantee the cancer will be completely removed. There are several treatments for this disease and the urologist would have gone over them all with your parents so that they may decide what is best for them. It was probably 4 cores, not cells, that had cancer and no, they will not just remove those cores because prostate cancer is diffused. Although this is a fairly long surgery (about 4+ hours) there are often any dangerous complications if that is your concern.

My wife had cancer a couple years ago and yes, there were some complications. BUT, we got through it, she's just fine and her cancer is just a distant memory. No one can guarantee your dad's surgery, or any surgery, won't have complications, but even if it does, it won't anything your surgeon never dealt with before, and one day too, yoiur dad's cancer will just be a distant memory. Mike----it'll be ok.
