Can a pelvic ultrasound detect prostate cancer

can a pelvic ultrasound detect prostate cancer?
I was wondering if a normal pelvic ultrasound detects prostate cancer. My prostate was checked in an ultrasound about a month ago and it was normal. I'm wondering because I've had a lot of prostate problems and I'm only in my 20's. I knew a guy who was only 28 that had prostate cancer.

I AM SORRY THAT YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS. YES, PELVIC ULTRASOUNDS CAN DETECT PROSTRATE CANCER HOWEVER THE BEST TEST FOR PROSTRATE CANCER IS A PSA TEST. NO, I NEVER HAD ONE (LADIES DONT HAVE THIS) BUT I HAVE HEARD THAT THIS TEST IS BETTER AT DETECTING PROSTRATE CANCER THEN OTHERS. PLEASE FEEL BETTER SOON AND PLEASE, DONT WORRY, OK? YOU'LL BE ALL RIGHT. GOD BLESS

Is shark cartilage a preventative, treatment or cure for prostate cancer

Is shark cartilage a preventative, treatment or cure for prostate cancer?

Alternative Medicine - 11 Answers

Experimental.
2 :
preventative its not a cure but lowers your risk of getting it
3 :
supposedly
4 :
Probably both.
5 :
preventive,
6 :
Some believe it is a preventative, as sharks do not suffer with any cancer as they are all cartilaginous. Raw organic pumpkin seeds, about a handful per day, are proven to help keep the prostate healthy. Don't know about treatment or cures for prostate cancer
7 :
Probably none. Tigers bones are used as medicines in the far east along with other things, seriously, tiger bones for medicine, shark cartilage a prostate cancer cure, some people must either believe everything they are told.....or.....have really high hopes !
8 :
If anything it would be preventive. Prostate problems are related to Harmonie unbalances which cause uncontrolled growth. Check out Estrogen and plastics, note plastics give off a type of Estrogen that may cause the uncontrolled growth of the prostate.
9 :
Shark cartilage and other cartilage/calcium alternative claims haven't held up under scientific studies. It's probably generally healthy, but I don't think it can cure cancer. Sorry.
10 :
No. Myth.
11 :
Ask a doctor. Not an MD, but a DO. They have as much schooling as MDs, can write prescriptions just like MDs, but don't throw pills at you like MDs. They try to get to the root of the problem, and treat it in a different way. DO stands for Doctor of Osteopathy. See one. If he recommends surgery, and wants to remove your prostate, do it. He might have a lot of other ideas though. He'll know all about shark cartilage. Good luck to you. :)

My prayers go out to you. Hang in there. God is always beside us through thick and thin. My husband has a submandibular mass on the rt. side of the neck by the tonsils and lymph nodes about the size of a golf ball. The left side is smaller. The doctors just got through putting a feeding tube to the stomach and a port. The port is for chemo and the feeding tube will be when the doctor starts radiation on him since his throat will be sore and tender. We are looking at 7 to 11 months of this plus he is diabetic on top of this. Please stay in touch with me on how you are doing. We are scared just like you, but please remember the Lord your God is with all of us. Due to where my husband's cancer is, he will have to have all his teeth pulled. He has wonderful teeth but they can be replaced. Is the radiation you are taking like an x-ray? Also I would like to mention to you to get a gallon of Aloe Vera juice at Wal Mart and drink about a half cup a day. It is very healing to the body. It does not taste bad or anything. My step dad took it faithfully and did not have to have colon surgery due to this. I have my husband taking it. Best of luck to you and May God Richly Bless You. You are in my prayers. E-mail me at bgdizzyjlynn@yahoo.com Do not give up. Okay?

My pop had to have this. I don't think he has had any side affects

I'm 15 years old and think I have prostate cancer

I'm 15 years old and think I have prostate cancer?
Sometimes when I urinate (usually in the morning), I have a very weak urine flow and my pee just repeatedly pumps up my penis like it's about to come out but it doesn't come out, this happens a few times before it can finally come out. Do I have prostate cancer or some sort of prostate disease? Is something blocked? btw, it doesn't hurt, it's just a little uncomfortable when the pee pumps up my penis and doesn't come out, but that's it.

Most likely you have a bladder infection of sorts. This can be due to many things, but you need to look at your diet and eliminate the sugars and especially the foods or drinks that contain artificial sweeteners, especially aspartame. Here's a web site for you to see: www.myaspartameexperiment.com Look at all the side effects from consuming that junk. Then know that the FDA is promoting it's use, even though they know 92 side effects, including death are a result of consuming this. The reason it is being allowed is the mandate from the White House to promote biotech engineering. It is genetically engineered. good luck to you
2 :
Whereas i agree with the first person who answered your question that aspartame is a horrible and dangerous poison which has no right to be in the food chain, i also think it's important not to focus on one cause to the exclusion of all else, and to be honest i think what they said is not very well-informed. Prostate cancer is a disease of old men, as is benign prostate enlargement, so you're unlikely to have it though you should never say never in medicine. What you describe sounds somewhat like an inflammation of the urethra, which can be caused by an infection associated with poor hygiene regarding masturbation or other sexual activity. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with masturbation, just that not everyone has gotten into the habit of keeping their penis clean. Alternatively, it could be the result of depressed immunity, for instance if you're taking steroids or are diabetic. Prostate trouble usually shows up as frequency, urgency and a tendency for a few drops of urine to dribble out shortly after urination. If you're worried, please see a doctor, if only for reassurance.
3 :
It is extremely unlikely that you would have prostate cancer at 15 (this would be a record). it is usually a disease of older men... You're 15...in this age group, trouble urinating is usually related to infection (especially if you are sexually active) such as prostatitis or urethritis. you would have symptoms more often, not just in the morning. Other symptoms include frequent trips to the bathroom with not much urine...discharge from the penis, pain, blood in your urine... Other causes include kidney stones (unlikely without severe pain, and if it only happens in the morning) You should ask a doctor. www.Rxwebmd.com Free Health Forum where you can ask questions and get answers from certified physicians. Free, anonymous. All you need is an email to sign up.
4 :
I do not think it is prostate cancer or some sort of prostate disease, but I'm an engineer, not a doctor. Consult a doctor or health professional.

What does it mean when a man has burning urination and loose bowels and who is in recovery of prostate cancer

What does it mean when a man has burning urination and loose bowels and who is in recovery of prostate cancer?

Men's Health - 3 Answers

it means that it's time to call your oncologist.
2 :
Depends on the treatment he had for prostate cancer. If he had radiation it can be a side affect of the radiation. If he had cryo surgery or the prostate removed I'm not sure but the burning urination ought to go away in a couple weeks at most. As for the loose bowels he might have to contact his doctor since I never had any problems with my bowels after prostate radiation treatment.
3 :
If you are in recovery of prostate cancer, and are under chemotherapy, radiation therapy or under some other therapy, that will be an explanation. Cancer metastasis is also a possible cause. Other co-diseases or co-infections may explain these symptoms. Pay visit to oncologist to identify the culprit and relieve the symptoms.

Dodd has prostate cancer that's not very far along. What do you think of this bad news

Dodd has prostate cancer that's not very far along. What do you think of this bad news?
He'll have surgery soon.

1 :
I hope he recovers with a minimum of pain and discomfort.
2 :
Well, I don't think a whole lot of Mr. Dodd. Seems like he has some explaining to do in regards to his mortgage and all. But, at least they caught the prostate cancer early and that type has a very good survival rate.
3 :
Well, of course when anyone has cancer it is bad. But i'm curious as to why he isn't the poster child for Obamacare?
4 :
I wish him the best and hope his surgery is successful. When it comes to another human's life, I could not care less about their political affiliation.
5 :
I think it is horrible when anyone gets any type of cancer.
6 :
Whether he was a Republican or a Democrat, no one should wish suffering or death on anyone. I hope he overcomes his illness and returns to good health.
7 :
Don't care. Dodd is a generational Washington D.C. a-hole.
8 :
Prostate cancer, detected early, is one of the easiest kinds of cancer to cure. Found late, it can be deadly. Give him 3-4 months, and it'll be like he never even had it. Personally, I simply cannot stand him ,bit I wish him a speedy and uneventful recovery recovery.
9 :
Well if socialized health care was already here, he would be considered a dead man, much too old to spend that kind of money on but we would council him and give him pain killers.
10 :
If he had Obama care he would be waiting for months to see the Doctor and we would not know yet that he has a problem..then more months for surgery...And thankfully he will be around for his trial for Bribe accepting from Countrywide
11 :
I would not wish cancer on my worst enemy - I lost my step dad to cancer last year. The world is poorer without him in it. As for Dodd, if he supports the health care bill, he should have to give up FEHBP (Federal Employee Health Benefits Program) and join all of the rest of us in Obamacare. I mean it. The American people should DEMAND it. Not one federal employee, including BO himself, should be exempt from what they force us into - not one exception!!

For a man going through radiation, due to prostate cancer, and has uncontrolable bowels

For a man going through radiation, due to prostate cancer, and has uncontrolable bowels?
Is there some form of diet, so that he doesn't get untimely urges to go to the bathroom. Any suggestions at all would be helpful. Thanks

1 :
Increase fiber intake to "bulk up" the stool. Avoid high fat foods that can cause diarrhea.
2 :
Adding the fiber as listed above will definitely help. Fiber draws in the water to prevent the diarrhea and it also loosens the stool to prevent constipation. That is why it is so stressed for every one to eat more fiber. Something like Metamucil or the walmart version is fine. Good luck.
3 :
Be aware that radiation to the prostate may also reach the nearby intestine which is very sensitive to radiation. A radiation effect on the bowel from the prostate treatment could be the problem. Let your radiation therapy doctor know; he is surely familiar with the connection.
4 :
Check with his physician. It is likely he can use over-the-counter Immodium AD occasionally to prevent sudden urges.
5 :
I had the same problem and there were two things that helped me the most.. The best thing was eating beef jerky.. and the second was eating green bananas hope this helps. Well one other food that helped was bisquits and gravey.. .. but still the best was beef jerky.. I had a little of the problem when having my radiation... but the jerky ended it pretty fast..I think the people recommending more fiber do not know what they are talking about.. more fiber made my problem much worse when I was having radiation for prostate cancer.. lay off fiber..
6 :
I've heard that when you have that type of cancer that you do have problems with the bowels....hope that gets better!
