it could spread everywhere, but in the beginning it makes your bladder squished so you pee more often
5 :
I know it is well hidden in the name but primarily the prostate.
6 :
Male reproductive organs.
7 :
i guess you PROSTATE would be affected.
8 :
Um.. the prostate?
9 :
Prostrate cancer ONLY affects the prostrate gland in Men. http://www.cancerbackup.org.uk/Cancertype/Prostate/General/Theprostate The linktakes you to a page all about the prostrate and has information about prostrate cancer too.
10 :
Initially the prostate (walnut sized gland in the male body). From there it'll metastasize to pretty much anywhere, with predominant locations being the liver and lymph nodes. If this is a bio project... are you actually going to CITE yahoo answers, or just plagerize?
11 :
The clue is in the name.
12 :
Prostate cancer affects all reproductive organs of a man and can cause psychological damage.
13 :
Any. But mostly bone, bladder, colon & rectum and lungs. Affected by extension of tumor or metastasis.
14 :
The entire body is affect by cancer anywhere in the body. Cancer has terrific potential to spread through the body, which is why it must be detected and treated early. The prostate is a male gland about the size of a walnut. It is located below the urinary bladder in front of the bowel. The problem with prostate cancer is that it can occur with few or no symptoms. When the prostate is inflamed and swollen, it can cause a great deal of pain and interfere with the passing or urine. I would suggest that you google "prostate" and "prostate cancer" and read about it. There are hundreds of sites.
15 :
The organ named the PROSTATE. It sits between the penis and the bladder. Its the valve, for urinating. Also it emits the liquid that semen travels in.
16 :
It is the prostate alone. Unless it has spread (metastized)

Prostate Cancer Treatment and its Effects on Sexual Performance   Prostate cancer is common and affects a huge percentage of men around the world. Unfortunately erectile dysfunction is a very real side effect of such a radical surgery. But men can get real and very discrete solutions with online prescriptions such as Viagra. More than half a million Americans will die of cancer this year, and in men, prostate cancer is second only to lung cancer as a cause of death. Prostate cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in America, affecting about 16 percent of men. According to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, more than 186,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2008, and more than 28,000 men will die from the disease. A new case occurs every two-and-a-half minutes, and a man dies from prostate cancer every 19 minutes. When it's caught early, prostate cancer can be stopped in a majority of men. But this disease, not to mention its treatment, can have a profound effect on a man's ability to perform sexually. Duration of erectile dysfunction following surgery If a man requires prostate surgery, or radical prostatectomy, for prostate cancer, his life, especially his sex life, may be changed forever. It is important to remember that surgery of any kind is a traumatic procedure and it takes time for the body to heal and recover. In the event of this type of surgery, the ability to achieve an erection will also take time, but many men will see an improvement in their erections over time, especially men who had no difficulty achieving a good erection before the surgery. In the first three months to a year following radical prostatectomy, most men will not be able to achieve a spontaneous erection, and will probably require an erectile dysfunction medication that can be bought through an online pharmacy, such as Viagra, to attain an erection. Radiation therapy Unlike radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer, radiation therapy may cause problems slowly and over time. The main cause of erectile dysfunction following radiation is damage to the blood vessels supplying the nerves responsible for erections. Cryosurgery Cryosurgery, or the technique of using extreme cold to treat tumors in cancer, can have permanent negative effects. When the prostate gland is frozen the nerve bundles controlling erections can often be permanently damaged. Treating erectile dysfunction after prostate cancer treatment Viagra is an oral erectile dysfunction medication that works by promoting increased blood flow to produce an erection when the penis is manually stimulated, and can be obtained through a reputable online pharmacy. Viagra does not improve sex drive, only erections. Studies have shown that men with erectile dysfunction after prostatectomy respond well to Viagra if the nerve bundles on both sides of the prostate are intact. But Viagra is normally not effective if one or both nerve bundles have been damaged. Other possible solutions to helping a man regain his facility to produce an erection after prostate treatment include penile medication injections, use of a vacuum constriction or vacuum erection device (which is very costly), or a penile implant, a prosthetic device surgically implanted inside the penis. The bottom line is that a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test for prostate cancer is recommended annually for men over 50, or even earlier for men with a family history of prostate cancer. Without our health we've got nothing, and nothing makes a man feel like less of a man than the inability to perform. So you need to take care of yourself, and know all the medical options that exist for you in today's modern world. I was told by a specialist I had Prostate Cancer and he wanted to start treaments right away, and treat it ver
He said he wanted to start treatments right away, very aggresively, I wanted more tests and another opinion, well he backed off, and I found out he has done this before. I did not and do not have cancer. Should I get a lawyer?

Unless he actually treated you, charged you money, and caused you harm, what would you sue him for? If you say he lied to you and it scared you all he has to do is say his diagnosis was wrong. Change doctors and get on with your life.
2 :
You were smart to get a second opinion - hopefully from a reputable cancer specialist MD. Whether you obtain a lawyer or not is up to you. I would be thankful to find out I did not have prostate cancer. But can you be certain that the second doctor is right? It is a matter of biopsy proof whether malignancy exists. Having biopsy slides reviewed by other observers is reasonable, but sometimes disagreements between pathologists can be confusing. Then only the "test of time" will show whether you have a dangerous medical condition or not. Medicine is not a perfect science, and cancers are not always predictable - especially prostate cancers.

Is it possible for a 16 year old boy to have prostate cancer

Is it possible for a 16 year old boy to have prostate cancer?
If not, what testicular problems are possible? Because I have some sort of lump that hurts. No need to inform me to see a doctor, I'm well aware I should, just looking for some opinions. Like I said I'm just wondering what people have to say before I can go to the doctor, today is Sunday, the doctors office is closed, tomorrow is a holiday, I'm just being proactive trying to understand any possible problems beforehand.
Yes, my bad, I meant any testicular problems, I'm not entirely comprehensive with these kinds of things.

Well if you have a prostate you can get prostate cancer. This is like asking if a guy can get "breast" cancer. It may be rare but that doesn't make it impossible.
2 :
Unfortunately, yes. Good luck and Gold Bless you!
3 :
If you are well aware of the fact that you need to see a doctor - then why are you bothering asking Men's Health? Are you hoping someone will tell you something you WANT to hear? Get yourself to a doctor like you know you should & get it checked out.
4 :
Hey, bro. The lump is nothing to worry about. It may be just a pimple of some kind (yes, it's possible to get some down there) or it may be this harmless trait that about 60% of men have. Lemme find the link to it. Here it is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fordyce%27s_spot
5 :
testicular problems are different fro prostate problems... which would make it testicular cancer i say see a doctor and let them decide
6 :
This would not be anything to do with your prostate. It has to do with your testicle. As you are aware, you need to see the doctor, and I am glad you recognize this. To ease your mind, there are many other reasons that you could have a painful lump on your testicle. One possibility is epididymitis, an infection of the epididymis, which is where the spermatic cord (vas deferens) attaches to the testis. It is located on the back of the testis. An infection or inflammation there can feel like a lump, and is quite painful. (I've had this myself.) Another possibility is a cyst. This could also be like what you're describing. Yet another possibility is a testicular torsion, a twisting of the spermatic cord (vas deferens). This could also cause swelling which feels like a lump. It is quite painful. Again, I'm glad you are willing to see a doctor. Chances are very, very good that this is something fairly easy to treat. Good luck.
7 :
Unfortunately it is possible, but very unlikely. You need to go and see your doctor as you have said you will. Have a look at this article. I do hope that it helps http://www.prostatehealthnews.org/what-causes-prostate-cancer.html I wish you sincere luck

Does lack of ejaculation lead to prostate cancer or any other ailments

Does lack of ejaculation lead to prostate cancer or any other ailments?
I am 60. Recently a practitioner told me that the prostate is a sex organ. Another said, if not evacuated regularly, it can lead to health problems.

I have The Same Problem but Im 14..i just cant seem to ejaculate
2 :
I have read that it can have an effect on several health issues. So to relieve the problem since I am single again I just relieve myself. Not only this may help prevent health problems, it is also pleasurable. Try this aproach, it can't hurt.
3 :
The prostrate is a sex organ. It's the male G spot. What researcher's have found is that males that masturbated frequently up to about age 30 have less prostrate cancer later in life. So, if you are not having prostrate problems now, I'd say get to work to try to stay health. A very high percentage of males have prostrate cancer when they are older. The good part of it is that it's slow progressing, and there is even talk of not treating after you are 70. It seems the treatment is worse than just living with it since it's relatively pain free normally. You just can't pee

Can my brother still have kids after prostate cancer surgery?
It's been almost 5 months and his wife is pregenant but is it possible? His doctor told him 2 years but another doctor was telling him six months? Or is it possible she can be seeing someone else and wants it to seem it's his when it is not?
Cancer - 5 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Most men with prostate cancer are at an age where they do not want kids, but yes it is still possible to father children without a prostate. EDIT: The prostate produces about 25% of the semen and 0% of the sperm and men are capable of ejaculation after a prostatectomy. The prostate produces a substance that allows sperm to live longer once it has entered the female. Without this substance the sperm is more likely to die and obviously decreases fertility, but it does not wipe out the possibility all together. SECOND EDIT: fototag is correct!!!! Without the seminal vesicles no way to get pregnant. I don’t know what I was thinking. Apparently I wasn’t. I apologize.
2 :
If anyone knows the answer to this, it's Denisedd
3 :
Not likely. The prostate gland produces the bulk of semen which carries and provides nutrients for the sperm cells. After prostate surgery there is no prostate gland and therefore no semen. After surgery it is not possible to ejaculate semen/sperm cells because there is no semen. Bottom line: no prostate, no semen, no sperm cell carrier, no ejaculation, no pregnancy. David
4 :
There are different types of prostate surgery but if a man has a "Radical Prostatectomy" he can no longer ejaculate semen or sperm. I don't know where some of these people get these totally absurd and ridiculous notions that a man can get his wife pregnant without a prostate. When they remove the prostate they also remove the seminal vesicles and several openings in the prostate that secrete fluids into the semen to protect the sperm keeping it alive. The only way a woman could get pregnant is to have sperm removed from his testicles and artificially inseminated into her ovaries or an egg to be fertilized in a test tube.Other wise, no prostate no babies!
5 :
I'm puzzled by your question. Your other questions and answers show that you are in your late teens. How much older than you is the brother who has prostate cancer? Prostate cancer is so rare in young men that there are no statistics available for the disease incidence in men under 35. It's extremely rare in men under 50, over 80% of men diagnosed with it are over 65 and half of all cases occur in men over 75.

Aloha, PCa has many starting conditions. It can be very slow growing - which does not need treatment or it can be aggressive, very fast growing - which needs to be treated within a few months. Do you know what your fathers starting conditions are; Stage, How many biopsy cores, Gleason, PSA, freePSA, DRE results, PSA velocity ... all these are important. For example a pathologist reads the biopsy cores. You should get a second opinion from a different pathologist to verify that the first reading can be duplicated. Check out these websites, http://www.yananow.net/ http://prostatecancerinfolink.ning.com/ There are many sites that provide helpful information about PCa. Joe

How can I help my Dad who is dying from prostate cancer

How can I help my Dad who is dying from prostate cancer?
I would also like to know what alternative medicine options are available that may be of help.

make sure the hospital does everything they can tell him its going to be fine and support him
2 :
(I'm sorry about your Dad...that's a tough situation for anybody to go through...) If he's dying... That means that it is inoperable...have they tried Chemo? Try this link... http://www.cancercenter.com/prostate-cancer.cfm
3 :
What treatments has your dad had already/ And, how do you know he is dying of prostate cancer? I'm not being just curious -I have prostate cancer myself but all I have had is the established radiation treatments.
4 :
I'm no doctor, so I am not qualified to deliver medical advice. However from experience I can tell you that the best thing you can do for your dad right now is be with him.Time is precious, don't let it waste away.
5 :
You could seek out an herbalist for additional information, However when dealing with this type of progressive cancer Radiation Therapy was most effective for my father. Prostate Cancer does not mean a death sentence today. My dad was diagnosed with having prostate cancer last summer and was lucky enough to not have it in his lymph nodes or bones. The oncologist and radiologist will explain to you the best method of treatment for your dad. Prostate cancer is a cancer that most men do not die of if it is caught early on. Your question does not tell me his progression or his stage of the cancer, so i hope the info i am giving to you is helpful. If the cancer is localized to the prostate itself, chances are he will beat this cancer and not die of it. He will also need hormone shots even after the treatment is over. My dad will be getting Lupron shots every couple of months over the next couple of years. My dad did the radiation treatment because that was his best option. Everyone is different and every case is different. For example, He is 72, diabetic and has had a previous heart attack, so removal of the prostate was not an option. The route of therapy is really determined by the doctors of course with the family and patients approval. Hope this helped you. In the beginning of all of this when my dad was first diagnosed, he was at a high level 9.8 , meaning the score chart they go by when first detecting cancer . The range is from 0-10, meaning 9.8 was just about as high as it could be. I though my dad was going to die also. We had 3 different consultations before chosing the facility, the doctors and the treatment methods. I suggest to you if you are just starting out on this road to get as many consultations, ask as many questions as you can. Knowledge is power. If you know he is dying of this disease then all you can do is support him, visit with him as often as possible and make him as comfortable as you can. Also respect and fullfill his wishes. God Bless.

Hi Treatment: To begin with, the patient should forgo all solid foods and subsist on water only for two or three days. The intake of water should be as plentiful as possible. Nothing should be added to the water except a little lemon juice, if desired. The water may be taken cold or hot and it should be taken every hour or so when awake. This will greatly increase the flow of urine. An enema may be taken once a day during fasting to clear the lower bowel of accumulations After a thorough cleansing of the bowels, hot and cold applications may be used directly on the prostate gland and its surrounding parts. The heat relieves the tissues and a brief cold immersion tones them up. The patient should take alternate hot and cold hip baths. These are of great value in relieving pain and reducing congestion. The hot bath should be taken first for 10 minutes, followed by a cold bath for one minute daily. After the short fast, the patient should adopt an all-fruit diet for three days. The fruits should include apples, pears, oranges, grape-fruit, grapes, sweet limes, mangoes, melons and all other juicy fruits. This will help to clear toxins from the body and will also enable excess fat to be reduced to some extent. The exclusive fruit diet should be followed by a diet, consisting of two meals of fruits and one of cooked vegetables for further seven days. The vegetable meal should be taken in the evening and should consist of all kinds of cooked vegetables, preferably steam cooked. Thereafter, the patient may adopt a well-balanced diet of three basic food groups, namely (i) seeds, nuts and grains, (ii) vegetables and (iii) fruits. The short lemon juice fast followed by an all-fruit diet and a further period on fruits and vegetables may be repeated after two or three months if necessary depending on the progress being made. Pumpkin seeds have been found to be an effective home remedy for prostate problems and many patients have been helped by their use. These seeds are rich in unsaturated fatty acids which are essential to the health of the prostate. Heavy starches, sweet stimulants and highly seasoned foods are entirely forbidden, as they cause direct irritation on the prostate gland and bladder. The diet should also exclude spices, condiments, salt in excess, sauces, red meats, cheese, asparagus, watercress, greasy or fried foods, alcohol, tobacco and too much tea or coffee. The patient should avoid hurried meals and must chew his food thoroughly and slowly. Water should be taken between meals and not at mealtime. The patient should avoid sexual irregularities in eating and drinking, long periods of sitting and vigorous exercise. He should guard against constipation by taking plenty of fruits, bran and nuts. All efforts should be made to tone up the general condition of the body. With a general improvement in health, the condition will be greatly relieved. Surgery should be resorted to only if the condition does not improve even after the dietary treatment and other measures outlined here. I hope you may find some helpful.
7 :
Sorry about ur dad. If he's already dying, I guess, not much might be done for him. You ensure to start testing early i.e. after age 40.
8 :
I too am sorry to hear about your Dad. You did not mention if he has had any previous treatments for prostate cancer. Assuming he did (and they failed), he can consider participating in a clinical trial. Here is a link that talks about them: http://www.prostate-cancer.org/research/research.html These are often experimental therapies that have not been used before, so there is no data to determine if they can really help. There also may be some risk as these trials are often conducted to assess the safety and efficacy of a treatment. You might also want to check with the American Cancer Society and US TOO to see what resources are available for men who are in what's called "the end stage" of their disease (which means they are dying). It's not easy to watch someone you love battle this disease, but I think your Dad is lucky to have someone as caring as you in his life. I hope you will take advantage of every precious moment you have with him.
9 :
I am very sorry to hear about this the best thing you can do is make sure he feel as little pain as possible try and be with him in your spare time and shre stories of old times. check with you doctor wat treatments are available or what pain killers are best for him. Hope all goes well...
10 :
Sometimes the best thing to do is just be there for him and let him go in peace. If he is at the point where you say he is dying, it's probably too late to do much of anything. Let him talk, as much as he can/wants, and listen to what he has to say. Talk about what is going on in your life. Don't spend to much time dwelling on death unless he wants to. I've been looking at music therapy and it can do a lot to ease pain and anxiety and such. If you play something that is portable, you could bring it in and play for him for awhile. Things he wants to hear. This may be really hard for you to deal with, but you will be glad you did it. You have my sympathy and empathy, since I've been through it.
11 :
First Stop bad habits ---Some one may ask us “Is there any new tablet or herb which will cure cancer. The answer we have to give depends on the educational level of the questioner. ---If the questioner is an ordinary ,uneducated person then what we should say to him is “There is no new tablet or herb which will cure cancer. Some people are trying to make money by claiming that they have a new tablet or herb which will cure cancer. If you go behind such claims ,you will lose your money .You will get a best treatment of allopathic medicine if you contact an M.B.B.S. or an M.D. degree holder .If you stop allopathic treatment believing that a herb will cure you ,you may lose your life as well as your money. Allopathic treatment has studied about different types of cancer ,and it is having different types of good medicines for different types of cancers. Most of the medicines can effectively control most of the cancers ,if treated at the beginning of the disease. In allopathic medicine ,there are even chemotherapy, surgery ,radiation methods to handle cancer. Many of the patients who followed the directions of the allopathic doctors, are living a happy life now .Hence you should contact an allopathic doctor immediately ,without wasting your time for giving an occasion for cancer to grow merrily ---If the questioner is well educated person having few allopathic MBBS doctors in his relatives and friends circle , then the approach should be more elegant than the approach for ordinary illiterate people. The first step for the educated people is ,they should contact their relatives or friends who are allopathic MBBS doctors .There by , they can get a complete picture of cancer. They will naturally start taking medicine according to allopathic medical science. Now ,the question arises, will the patient be able to follow all the precautions and restrictions told by the allopathic doctors Most probably ,the patient will fail to grasp one or two points of restrictions or rules of health told by the doctor. Even if the patient has understood all the precautions told by the doctor, he may not have mind control to follow all those suggestions of doctors. When a person is having cancer ,it will make more important for the close relatives of the patient to follow all the safety measures so far discovered by allopathic medical science, since they are having similar genetic factors as that of the cancer patient , inside their body .Even if you reject the genetic similarity point in the relatives of cancer patients, we know that in the present days there are hundreds of proven causes of cancer around us which may bring cancer to us even though we do not have relatives with cancer.(Off course ,we know that a proven cause cancer will not bring cancer to everyone ,it will bring cancer to only those who have genetic variation ) Now the question is who has to spread the messages of medical science about the proven causes of cancer and preventive methods I think ,you and I can start an organization /group of people around the world ,even through internet media ,to make the people understand easily ,all the discoveries made so far regarding the preventive measures/methods for cancer .Do you think that all cancer patients who were smoking or drinking stopped it after getting cancer I do not think so .Few have not yet stopped. I and you can help them to overcome their bad habits which lead them to cancer & other diseases. --- Now the next step. When a cancer patient is treated by allopathic medicine ,if the patient had delayed to begin the treatment ,the treatment may not become effective. Negligence from the part of patient to follow the precautions told by doctor will also contribute to the failure of treatment. Whatever may be the reason, if the treatment is not giving expected success, then ,there is no alternative for the allopathic doctor to give the patient the latest medicines which are not yet prescribed to the public. Now the question is do all the doctors in the world know all such test drugs If the relatives of a cancer patient from a poor country wants to know about the possibility of survival of patient for whom all other medicines failed to work ,you and I ,through our organization can inform to such people of poor countries that ‘there is still light of hope ,darkness need not be feared , total darkness is still far away’. We can inform to patients about such test drugs and about the allopathic hospitals which are treating patients who did not respond to regular medicines , with test drugs. ----Now the next step .For patients who cannot afford such treatments what should be done. ----Now the next step. For patients who are educated and are having doctors in their friends and relatives circle ,if the present allopathic treatment is not working for them, what should they do .Since they are having doctors in their friends circle ,they need not fear about quacks. They will not stop present treatment from allopat

Is it possible to have prostate cancer at 19

Is it possible to have prostate cancer at 19?
I'm 19 and for a year I've been having horrible sharp prostate pain that comes and goes every few days

1 :
have you been playing the skin flute a little too much?
2 :
I hope not, most of the time pain is due to some psychological/spiritual kinda problem
3 :
of course its possible, but not likely. you should've told your doctor before now. hopefully it's nothing to worry serious.
4 :
get it checked....do not wait for answers on here when you are dealing with your health
5 :
anything is possible if you just believe.
6 :
It does happen but very rare. See a doc and get checked out.
7 :
yes im sorry
8 :
could be, do you have any family history of that? but it could be other things, maybe a peri anal infection? search it
9 :
Call your doctor and ask him if the pains are nothing or something. If it's been for a year, they might be something, but maybe not something that bad. It is possible to get cancer at any age, but just call your doctor to get an appointment soon. good luck! feel better! :)
10 :
Yes, see your doc. Don't wait.
11 :
It is possible, but not probable. If there is any cancer in your family line especially prostate cancer in men - your chances are higher. You really should get checked out by a doc to find out what is happening. If you're sexually active you could have contracted some horrendous disease. There are any # of things that could cause this - but you should get checked out as there are many things that can get worse or turn into something more if you don't nip it in the bud. Your chances are really good of a full recovery from prostate cancer if it is detected early. There is a high likelihood of death if you wait until the pain is killing you to address it and it is in fact prostate cancer!
12 :
It's possible, or you could have something called prostititus, which is swelling of the prostate. My boyfriend has this, and he has found that alcohol and smoking aggravates this, so he did the obvious. He still gets pains after ejaculating, but not nearly as much. Please see a doctor, my father had surgery for prostate cancer and just completed radiation treatments. Nineteen seems too young, though
13 :
Yes you can get it at any age. Are you having problems urinating? as in hard to start the flow and stops during the flow? do you feel like you need to pee all the time? If yes then you may have a prostate problem. This may only be an infection (I had this about 1 year ago). If that's all it is then it is only a case of giving you a course of drugs. Best to get it checked out, that way if it is something more serious the earlier you get it checked out the more they can do to help you.
