My wife lost her father to prostate cancer. Should Obama fight harder against breast cancer or prostate cancer?
The cancer was absolutely horrendous and the death has left my wife and her mother devastated. Do libs seem far more concerned with protecting the lives of their daughters and moms instead of their sons and fathers? The Dems were sending 10X as much money to breast cancer research until a few years ago. I don't think he is really going to care. He'd rather make it harder for your loved ones to get treatment by socializing healthcare.

Obama wants to dedicate more funds to healthcare and all republicans can do is screech "socialism!".

That is terrible! I am so sorry! Both need to get equal funding but historically, women's health has taken a back set and that is why women organized to get better treatment and research. Susan Koman's sister did an amazing job organizing and educating. Prostate cancer needs the same kind of leadership.

The breast cancer obession is laughable. If women were really interested in saving as many womens' lives as possible, they would wear pink ribbons against heart disease. Heart disease kills WAAAAY more women than breast cancer does.

he should be a president. when he shows as he is already that he cannot provide the golden goose, people will see how stupid he is. doctors are the ones to fight and work to find cures not the president. he doesnt have much of a background in a real job let alone in a medical field. maybe when they extend affirmative action--which was how he and his wife got through school, to awaring medical degrees...then he will be in.

My dad battled his way back from a brain tumor, and he had NO HELP from the god damn government to do so. His HMO didn't pay, and Social Security, (into which he had paid for his entire working life,) refused to help him out with any kind of SSI or whatever because he owned more than three thousand dollars' worth of property. (His house, which they suggested he sell and move into a rental.) So what did he do? He lived down the medical debt. That was all he could do. Don't sit there and tell me that the government has some magical ability to help with cancer, because I hate to burst your bubble, but in reality, there is nobody in the government who gives two sh!ts about your father-in-law.

Cancer does not have political clout. Aids does even if it kills less than what cancer does. Just get some flaming homos to get cancer and they the government will listen.

How can you ask that when Bush did not even allow this country to move forward...stopping stem cell research? Just think how many people could have been saved by the research that was NEVER allowed. Your republicans have spent a lot of money of Viagra....is that what is MORE important to you people?

all cancer have the same thing in common as you stated it is abosolutely horrendous and leaves family members devastated my grandfather died of colon cancer that metastasized to his body i know of a little girl fighting metastasized bone cancer...given my gpa was 70 i feel more for this 10 y/o girl but i think we must work to find a cure to all cancers and i am democrat also work in the health field. and have seen people die of cancer who have A GREAT PROGNOSIS but cannot afford the care.

Neither. I lost my Dad to prostate cancer and fear that I'll get it as well. But this is not the purvue of the federal government my friend.

If everyone had adequate health coverage this would not be a question.

If they live long enough most men will eventually develop prostate cancer. My grandfather died from complications of prostate cancer but, he was 92. Women tend to develop breast cancer earlier than men develop prostate cancer.

It is not the Government's job to do this. As for brest cancer, they were courting the women's vote. They don't really care about White Males. There is no way they are going to ever going to do more than break even with that block. . Black males are already in their pocket.

Look, do more research before coming up with such Ideas. Im sorry for the loss of your father in law but lets get some facts straight here alright. Part of Obama's stimulus package is big budget increase for NIH(National Institutes of Health) This department under the Health and Human Services (Tom Daschle was supposed to be the director of) is the premeire national and international reasearch institution for medicine. So Obama wants to spend big bucks here. How do I know, I work there, or in an institute that is part of NIH. How can you say the Libs steal other's money? Obama is strict on that wall street kind of thing and you know that. IF it wasn't for Obama, NIH would be laying of people instead of inviting potential cancer curers and HIV curers, etc.

prostate cancer if found early can be treated and the survival rate is very very good, not so with breast cancer......most men, Im not saying your father in law, dont like the exam, so usually when the cancer is found it is too late. All cancer is bad, the main thing is prevention....in honor of your father in law, tell your wife and mother in law to honor his memory, celebrate his life and tell every man they know to get a prostate exam....that means you, get the exam early, Im so sorry about your loss....I really dont think its a rep dem thing....if it is then we need to speak out ......

Cancer is cancer. No matter what kind you get...it's going to be hell. I'm trying to figure out why you aren't ranting at Bush and his 6 year republican panel for not doing something more. Obama has barely had time to take a dump in the White House toilet, let alone make huge changes. He is in the process of reversing the stem cell research ban that Bush passed down to him. That alone will go a LONG way to helping cure horrible diseases. Not everything is about the government. Ordinary people get out there and raise money for research for causes near and dear to them. I walk for the March of Dimes every year. I also donate to breast cancer research because my mother is a survivor and I donate to lung cancer research. If this cause is so important to you.....do something about it. Start a charity. Recruit friends, neighbors and co-workers to help you. Go on the news, write the editor of magazines and newspapers....DO SOMETHING instead of sitting around b!tch!ng about it! I'm very sorry for the loss of your father in law. I lost my beloved step-dad to lung cancer. It IS horrible to watch. But we can't blame the government for everything. We really need do some things for ourselves, you know?
