There are several ways of beating prostate cancer with nanotechnology: 1. Early detection (targeted contrast agents, magnetic nanoparticles coated with DNA labeling; nanoscale cantilevers coated with antibodies against tumor markers). however, it is difficult to achieve, since very few will accept these types of investigations. 2. Treatment - Bioactive immune stimulation; nanoparticles can be used to attack integrin expressing vasculature with gas bubbles, which then can explode by ultrasound; these are two new alternatives. Other options include multifunctional polymers, carbon nanotubes, gold nanoshells as contrast agents for cancer identification, drugs delivery and cancer cells ablation. However, most of these approaches are still in development.
