Does Anyone Know About Prostate Cancer

Does Anyone Know About Prostate Cancer?
Hello. I found out yesterday that my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer over a year ago. He kept it a secret from me. He has been hospitalized for over a week. He is in bad shape. The cancer has spread to his pelvis bone area. A specialist is planning to stop the spread of his cancer. My dad's vital organs are in perfect condition. I love my dad more than life. He is more than a dad. He is my friend. I don't have too many friends in this life. What are his chances to survive?

The prostate cancer itself is a slow moving cancer and generally people do not die from Prostate Cancer but from other causes. If the cancer has spread from the Prostate to other body areas then some more radical treatments are called for including radiation seeding, and medications. If he now has cancer in the bone that is another kind of cancer, but if it is "regional" Prostate Cancer then it is radiation/medications. Surgery for removal of the Prostate is also a possibility. There are a ton of variables to Prostate Cancer and today's treatments are many times better than they were ten years ago. A lot depends on your father and what treatments would be most appropriate. Let me know if you have any questions.

Well, sometimes prostate cancer comes from the lack of releasing sperm from the body, thus it builds up. But if the cancer was caught early in time, the treatments should hopefully work. But I don't have a percentage on his survival. I hope your dad gets better.

Q D is wrong. Lack of releasing sperm from the body does not cause cancer, it causes prostatitis. When prostate cancer has metastasized to the bone it is necessary to begin serious treatment. Seeing a urologist and doing what he prescribes is best for your father from here on. You can help him by supporting him in obtaining treatment, and encouraging him. Prostate cancer is a slow-growing cancer, so he may die from something else before the cancer kills him. But he needs your support, because he may have some pain now that it is in the bones. His doctor will prescribe something for the pain. Don't panic, just be supportive of him. Some men have lived many years with metastatic bone cancer.
