YES
2 :
go and see a doctor. you can get it at any age after puberty as far as i know.
3 :
Well in theory you can get almost anything at any age, though it's rare. You could have either one, but very unlikely. If you're unsure, just see a doctor.
4 :
well, for starters, you don't have a left and right prostate--are you referring to testicles instead (inside your scrotum)? The prostate gland is up inside your body--it's function is one of traffic control: when you're ready to ejaculate, it closes off the urethra from the bladder and allows the seminal fluid to pass instead. So, guess we need to establish exactly what you're talking about first.
5 :
First of all men only have one prostate. You would have a very hard time feeling your own prostate because it is contained internally (inside the body). I'm guessing your talking about the testicles. Testicular cancer is rare, but it is the most common cancer affecting younger men. If there's a lump you should go see your doctor.
6 :
Yes a man can have prostate problems at any age. Just because it swells, it doesn't mean you have prostate cancer(by the way, you only have one). Men are advised to have their prostate checked every year after they turn 40 but I have had to have mine checked since age 30. I was taking medication for pain and it eventually caused mine to swell. The only real problem I've had with it is difficult urination. For the sake of your health, get on in to a doctor and have it checked. Good luck
7 :
Maybe, but it is unlikely before your testes mature. Sounds like you need to see a qualified physician. Out of curiousity, how are you doing all this checking? Or are you having some assistance? I am in my fifties and my doc told me my prostrate is somewhat enlarged. She checked for lumps or bumps and didn't find any, so basically I got a clean bill or health. There is also the PSA (prostrate specific antigen) test which can be an indicator also. Get going dude, or you'll be in sad shape.
8 :
dude your prostate is somewhere up your ar$e and you only have the one. i think youre on about your balls. if you have any lumps that feel unusual then go the docs asap. I always wonder why people sit asking questions on yahoo answer when its a potentially serious situation. you can develop cancer at any age anywhere. a good mate of mine had testicular cancer and had to have one removed at twelve years old.
9 :
Excuse me that is your testicles not your prostate. The Prostate is inside the body and is not visible from the out side. You mite have Testicle strain from having to much ruff sex, or you could have a growth in the testicle sack. May be even a rupture. You need to have a Doctor check it out for you. Not us quicks on yahoo!

What does the ProstAsure prostate cancer screening test cost, and do most major medical insurers cover it

What does the ProstAsure prostate cancer screening test cost, and do most major medical insurers cover it?
I am going back this week for another PSA test, but want to have the doc also do a PSA ratio test and also a ProstAsure score. Anyone familiar with these and would my insurance co (United Health Care) cover it? (I find nothing in my booklet that says they don't, but the ProstAsure doesn't seem to have a whole lot of discussion on the web. thanx.

Here's one source but I'm not sure about its reliability: http://www.newsrx.com/newsletters/Sex-Weekly-Plus/1998-03-16/199803163336SW.html According to this (reputable source) it is indeed a valid and useful test: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=pubmed&cmd=Retrieve&dopt=AbstractPlus&list_uids=9457308&itool=pubmed_AbstractPlus As far as I know United Healthcare has direct contracts with these two laboratories: LabCorp (http://labcorp.com/dos/index.html) and QuestDiagnostics (http://labcorp.com/) direct contract means your insurance will pay for tests performed by this lab as long as your doctor provided an appropriate diagnosis on the test request form. Unfortunately, none of them have this test listed. However, they could send it to a third party (another lab they have partnership with - it would be treated as a "send out test") and it might still be covered by your insurance. QuestDiagnostics often uses Mayo Clinic lab as a partner; Lab Corp has many partner labs. Try talking to your doctor first. However, in the doctor's office they might not feel like investigating this for you because it's a lot of work and no gain for them. Try talking to these two labs - request to talk to the Send-Out department right away and ask them if they could do this test as a send-out to another lab. If the answer is yes, request detailed info (which lab can perform it, test code, if they know the cost etc.) then call your insurance with this information and have them find out for you if it is covered. Always get full names and titles of the people you talk to. Good luck!

It is true that long-term sexual abstinence may cause prostate cancer

It is true that long-term sexual abstinence may cause prostate cancer?
In most cases, urologists says that sexual abstinence has no negative effects, because the body has the ability to reabsorb the exceeding seminal fluid, and sometimes it is expelled through 'wet dreams'. Some oriental practitioners even teach us that ejaculation is not good for health and weakens the body, and developed some techniques to avoid ejaculation during sexual stimulation.
However, many articles suggests that holding the seminal fluid in the body is unhealthy, and may lead even to cancer prostate. It is true?

I'm not sure it will leads to cancer. But your prostate needs the exercise for sure....
2 :
sounds like some of the old wives tales I grew up with, like "I'll never achieve an erection if I don't have sex before I'm 18",ask your doctor, but it sounds untrue to me
3 :
That why people can masturbate. You got to try it sometime. It not sex with a partner but is sex with yourself. It sometimes can be fun. Got to try it yourself sometime. No health risks of doing this either. Masturbation an all natural thing for people to do.

That is so idiotic I can't believe someone who actually believe that. NO, IT'S NOT TRUE!!!
2 :
no, that is not true
3 :
The opposite. They say that if you don't masturbate regularly, your change of getting prostate cancer is higher.
4 :
masturbating actually decreases your chances of getting prostate cancer. its good for you to do!
5 :
It is not true. Ejaculating rarely is more likely to cause cancer. Prostate cancer can be caused by a number of things, including poor eating habits.
6 :
Question...............NO there is no one agreed upon answer on what causes prostate cancer. It will happen to 1 in 6 men in their lives. The good news is if you get regular checks and find it early then your chances of controlling it and living a normal life are much better.
7 :
No it doesn't cause prostate cancer its quit the contrary, the saying is, it'll help prevent it but there are things you can eat that helps, the one i'm sure about is tomato i heard others but wasn't able to confirm. i.e. you don't need to masturbate to prevent prostate cancer.

Can a man still produce sperm after surgery to remove prostate cancer

Can a man still produce sperm after surgery to remove prostate cancer?
In other words could a man father children after radical prostatectomy?

His testicles will always produce sperm. However, he may have to have the sperm removed surgically to fertilize an egg.
2 :
Yes of course. There will be less ejaculatory fluid so conception is somewhat less likely, but they're still swimming.

What are some preventative measures that an adolescent can engage in to avoid the diagnosis of prostate cancer

What are some preventative measures that an adolescent can engage in to avoid the diagnosis of prostate cancer

Some good info here: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/prostate-cancer-prevention/MC00027
2 :
Honestly...Sex...yep that is right, studys have shown that having lots of sex reduces the risk of getting prostate cancer. However don't be an idiot and go have unprotected sex though. Then you would just die at a young age of AIDs or something instead of prostate cancer.
3 :
Well i would say obviously healthy diet and plenty of excersice. But.......they say th emore masturbation the better (thats a sex alternative dont want youung people having sex)
4 :
Actually teenagers are more likely to have different types of cancer more related to their age than older people. In other words if you are looking out for prostate cancer as adolescent you might totally miss the signs of osteosarcoma on a shoulder or leg. Prostate cancer generally is a cancer of older men. Testicular cancer, however, is a real possibility for young males starting about the age of 15 years old. The only 'preventive measure' an adolescent can take include learning which cancers you are more likely to get and paying attention to your body . . most of the time the only warning you will get is an odd lump or bump located anywhere in or on the body. Teens should see a doctor on a yearly basis and make sure to point out anything unusual. Here are the most common adolescent cancers and the ones any teen should be looking out for: Leukemia - blood Lymphoma - lymph nodes Osteosarcoma - bone Ewings Sarcoma - bone Brain Tumor - brain Soft Tissue sarcoma - tendons, muscles Germ Cell Tumor (Testicular or Ovarian Cancers) Malignant Melanoma - skin Perhaps one day the medical community will begin to educate adolescents and young adults about the types of cancer they are more likely to get. It is fairly unusual for teens to get lung cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer, or prostate cancer . . . but those are the only cancers you ever hear about. Those are diseases, in general, of older people.

I have robotic prostate cancer surgery on the 21st. What should I do to prepare

I have robotic prostate cancer surgery on the 21st. What should I do to prepare?

Make sure your robot feels safe and secure.
2 :
There are some details on this subject at this link http://www.medscape.com/ viewarticle/531751_4 Hope this helps matador 89
3 :
What is it about the 21st? That's the day I also go "under the knife, as well. My doctor is using a perineal approach. I wish us both luck! The best site I can offer you is our Yahoo Prostate Cancer Support Forum. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/ProstateCancerSupport Do a search within the forum. There are lots of good answers for you. According to my urologist and physiotrist there is not a whole lot that you can do for yourself aside from Kegel exercises. You may ask your surgeon if he advises you to self-donate blood... just in case... I am trying to prepare my mind, body, and spirit using meditation, pelvic floor exercises, and even biofeedback. Hey! It may not be effective, but at least I feel I am still in control and doing something is always better than not. I'm also a member of our local Man-To-Man Prostate Cancer Support Group. Check out The American Cancer Society for a group near you. Headscratcher

If 1 in 6 men suffer from prostate cancer, why is the NFL supporting Breast cancer instead of prostate cancer

If 1 in 6 men suffer from prostate cancer, why is the NFL supporting Breast cancer instead of prostate cancer?
most girls hate the NFL as it is...I say let the WNBA and Oprah do breast cancer awareness and let the NFL and MLB do prostate cancer awareness

I hope you aren't losing sleep over this. It really doesn't matter what you say. The NFL won't care.
2 :
If they have been advertising it lately it might be because October is national breast cancer month. They might do both, I don't know, but it does seem like NFL would be things related to guys. Maybe they are trying to appeal to a larger audience.
3 :
Because the NFL is getting feminized. Pink shoes, sexual harassment, penalties for bumping a QB, ect.
4 :
the NFL are reaching out to the audience that doesn't watch them in order to get more ratings from women
5 :
It's all for publicity and good public relations. It's ridiculous and superficial but in reality it all comes back to the dollar.
6 :
I thnk it's because breast cancer involves boobies, and the whole sisterhood thing. It's a more 'attractive' cancer, and is easier to advertise. As opposed to 'Hey men over a certain age, come get a finger up your bum to check your prostate!' Very important, but not as attractive.
7 :
Its all in the media, i mean more people die due to over weight issues than any thing else but you do not see any one talking about that. NFL and all other organizations that support breast cancer do not do it because they care about it they just want to show the world that they are responsible. So the easiest way to get recognition is to follow the crowd. The media has created a hype and every organization wants to cash in on that hype.
8 :
Interesting point you make..However, I do not think a majority of males react as positively to "awareness" months (concerning ailments they could have) as females do. Prostate health is definitely something for all guys to keep up with but I really don't feel most guys need a whole month devoted to it Also where are you pulling this 1 in 6 number out of?
9 :
Who cares, everyone is "aware" of breast cancer any way.
10 :
I think its probably because the susan g komen breast cancer program is one of the biggest charities people hear about, and I don't know if you know this but men can get breast cancer. I agree that it should be prostate cancer because it is more gender appropriate. @JWeezy- thank you, another person who agrees about the new rule :)
11 :
0@dab rubbin what a lame
12 :
Because men care about breasts. If the breasts are gone, it doesn't matter if they have a prostate or not. Something has to get them going first. Also, there is a much greater chance of getting people to work for breast cancer if advertised by the NFL.
13 :
Well Its all about caring for Women the players have Wives, Daughters, Mothers, Sisters, Girlfriends, Neighbors, who are all being Generous and Its not all about themselves the players Its about their Families and most of them are Women I'm proudly support Breast Caner Awareness Personally because I know some men get it too. You may not like it but the NFL is doing the right Thing about Prostate Cancer Awareness theirs month for that September. Every September Prostate Awareness Month Every October Breast Cancer Awareness Month, that's a Fair and Balanced Answer.
