Many people said that hot peppers can prevent or cure prostate cancer

Many people said that hot peppers can prevent or cure prostate cancer?
If it is true, the prostate cancer rate in mexico would be very low? Is there any medical research to back it up?

No. Don't be naive.
2 :
well they don't have cancer as much as we do over here.
3 :
I recently read something about some anti carcinogenic compounds found in hot peppers that seem to indicate that they inhibit prostate cancer...don't know if this is the capsaicin or what..or if this was observed at a very high dose....good question though

Capsaicin in Hot Peppers May Prove Useful, Lab Tests Show

6 :
The ingredient that you are talking about in peppers is called Capsacin. I am not sure what it's benifits are reguarding prostate cancer, but alot of people take Capsacin supplements. Personally having lost my grandfather to prostate cancer, I wish more men were aware of prostate health.

I started to rail against this as another bogus silly story, but apparently there may be something to it: http://health.dailynewscentral.com/content/view/0002161/41/ (at least for mice with prostate cancer!) Eat them 'cos they taste good!
8 :
Let me tell you about hot peppers. I had a chicken tika masala last night and asked for it to be a little more spicy than normal. (They aren't usually spicy) They chopped up a pepper (chili) and chucked it in there. I puked my ring up all night long. AND, my prostrate, well, we'll just have to see. Incidentally, They normally eat jalapenos in Mexico and chili peppers in India. Are there any data showing comparisons in prostrate cancer rates between the two countries?
9 :
yeah you got to shove em us ya arse

Supplements & Prostate Cancer - How Good Are Diet Supplements In Prostate Cancer Prevention

Supplements & Prostate Cancer - How Good Are Diet Supplements In Prostate Cancer Prevention?
I'm keen on knowing some facts about cancer nutrition and if supplements are any use in maintaining good prostate health.

I found this information on the web regarding preventative prostate cancer diet guidelines & supplements. I think you will find it really helpful. http://www.webmd.com/prostate-cancer/is-there-prostate-cancer-diet Hope this is helpful to you.
2 :
Vitamin E, Selenium and Zinc have long been considered to prevent prostate cancer, but a 7-year study by the National Cancer Institute has pretty much debunked that claim. Cancer risk among those who take supplements seems to be just as much as those who don't. What counts are lifestyle & nutrition choices for preventing prostate cancer. Losing weight and eating healthy can reduce your cancer risk by as much as 42%. Foods rich in lycopene (like tomatoes), oily fish and green leafy vegetables contribute to good prostate health. These are proven facts summarized by that study.

Is brachytherapy still helpful for a prostate cancer patient who has metastasized cancer cells

Is brachytherapy still helpful for a prostate cancer patient who has metastasized cancer cells
the cancer cells spread in the patient's body, is seed brachytherapy applicable in the patient's case?or do you have any suggestions?thank you.

1 :
I would not suggest someone have a prostate seed implant if they already had systemic disease. Assuming the metastatic disease is prostate cancer the patient would need more attention to the symptomatic mets.
2 :
Not really no, brachytherapy is very localised becaused it's treating the tumour from the inside so if it's already spread the radioactive seeds will have no effect on the mets because they will be too distant to recieve enough dose i'm afraid.

I am 43 years old with prostate cancer

You are giving zero information about your disease and if you went over your options with your doctor you would already know the answer to this question. There is something very wrong if you are asking this 6 months after diagnosis. Are you single? I’m sorry James I don’t mean to be rude, but you need to get your act together. Most prostate cancers are slow growing and can be managed for many years, but rarely when you are diagnosed at 43. Young men with prostate cancer do not do nearly as well as older men. If you have a shot at being cured now you need to go for it as time is ticking and erections will do little good if you are dead. I suspect there is a communication problem between you and your doctor. You have to have a doctor you can talk to and understand. The treatment for prostate cancer is not the same for every man and unlike most other cancers your lifestyle and sex life have to be taken into consideration. You should also get more than one opinion and I suggest one of them should be from a teaching facility. If you do not live in a big city I also suggest you get treated in one. You have ruled out surgery, but did your doctor talk to you about robotic surgery? If he didn’t you are not with the right doctor. There are going to be pro and cons to what ever treatment you decide on and there will be different solutions to some of them. You have to know all of this to decide what is best for you and you cannot be afraid to ask questions. There is nothing you can ask a urologist that he has not been asked before, that could shock him, make him think you are strange or had not thought of himself. Believe me I know, I was married to one.
2 :
I think the other poster, Denise was right. What have you been doing for the last 6 months? I was diagnosed with PC last year at age 61. I went to 3 different urologists in 3 months. I decided on the radioactive seed implants, known as brachy therapy. Not all PC patients are candidates for Brachy therapy. I still get erections, but semen production is almost completely gone. Radiation will kill all semen production, as will surgery. Surgery also has the risk of incontinence and impotence. Do you know what your numbers are? Gleason score? PSA? Is the cancer aggressive? Have you been to some of the PC websites?
3 :
look for Mrmanspower guide and he sells that very good guide for very little money and that guide will show you exercises on how to regain full erection strenght you should try it so bad.!!!

That's a question for your doctor buddy!
2 :
That's something only a doctor should recommend.
3 :
The odds that you have prostate cancer at your age is very remote, but in medicine, anything is possible. After the testing is complete, he'll probably refer you to a urologist for a second opinion. If he doesn't, ask him to.
4 :
There are all sorts of things that it could be, some not serious, some serious. It would be unusual, but not impossible, to have prostatic cancer at your age. It could be a cyst or something else, but it's imperative that you get the appropriate testing and diagnosis.

How effect is laser surgery in prostate cancer

How effect is laser surgery in prostate cancer?
I'm talking a very small cancer, 2.5mm, Gleason 7 age 56 male.

One treatment does not have a clear advantage in terms of overall survival over others when it comes to prostate cancer. Laser surgery is not a common treatment and I would be curious to know how the tumor size was determined as prostate cancer is often diffused.
2 :
I'm not familiar with Laser Surgery as a means to cure prostate cancer. What I know of is IMRT or the intensity-modulated radiation therapy. This type of treatment offers precise delivery of radiation therapy and has lower exposure for healthy cells thereby reducing side effects. Doctors recommend this type of therapy for low-risk prostate cancers.

How much pain is there with Radation Treatments for Prostate Cancer

How much pain is there with Radation Treatments for Prostate Cancer?
How sick will this make you and how much pain will there be? What are the chances of the cancer comming back after radation treatment? I have a friend getting ready to under go 9 weeks of treatment.

I am undergoing radiation for breast cancer at this time. Pretty easy. No pain. Doctor says it may make me tired as we progress through the treatments. The people I talk to that have gone or are going through this say the same. As for chance of reoccurence, your friend needs to discuss that with his doctor. Every person's cancer is different. Too many factors are involved to make a comment on what the chances are that it will come back or not.
2 :
I don't know my husband is on zoladex for it, post here someone will beable to help you http://www.prostate-cancer.org.uk/forums/default.asp
3 :
The worst pain I experienced from radiation therapy was from having to lie in the same position for an hour during treatments. They made me as comfortable as possible, so it was hardly a problem. At the end of treatment, there was some "sun burn" of the skin, and it was unpleasant, but not a big deal either. Radiation didn't make me sick at all. Just a little tired, as others have said. Lazla .
4 :
Well since your friend is undergoing about 8 to 9 weeks of treatment I am making a few assumptions. I would assume that they are treating him using IMRT. IMRT is a specialized form of radiation that allows the physicians to "paint" the radiation in various intensities within the body. The physician is able to distribute a large amount, or a high dose to the tumor itself, and is then able to limit, or reduce the amount of radiation to normal organs and tissues with in the body. The treatments themselves should only take about 15 minutes. This is more for the set up and position. The radiation is only one for about 30 seconds at a time. The most uncomfortable thing is going to be trying to hold still on a hard table during that amount of time. Other then that, the treatments themselves do not hurt. Your friend will not see or feel anything, just hear the buzzing of the machine. After about 4 weeks, your friend may begin to experience some fatigue or tiredness. A nap will usually help alleviate that symptom. He may also experience a slight redness on his skin. If he begins to use lotion in those areas from day one, this will also limit that redness and keep the skin moist. The only other thing that your friend may experience is some potential irritation when he needs to urinate. This is not experienced by all patients, but some do experience the symptom, but it usually subsides after 2 weeks from the end of treatment. One last thing, if your friend is treated prone, or lying on his stomach, some places use a rectal balloon. This may get to be a bit irritating after 4 weeks into the treatments. Its more of a nuisance then anything. It is used by some physicians to get the rectum out of the treatment field. This way they can increase the dose to the tumor and limit the amount that the rectum receives. If you have any further questions, you can email cancergeek@gmail.com.
5 :
I had seed implants 1/26/05 and had virtually no pain from it. I had a catheter in overnite that was uncomfortable but not as bad as I had expected. Started 6 weeks of external radiation 3 weeks later on 2/16/05 and had absolutely no pain from the radiation. The total external radiation experience at RCOG was truly a "radiation vacation" due to the support groups, educational seminars, fellowship, and social activities provided by RCOG.

you can get Worms...as long as the other person has worms that is...thats all i know about
2 :
Actually, it's quite the opposite! Research has shown that regular prostate stimulation (also known as "milking the prostate") gets rid of the toxins that may or may not (but are highly suspected) to play a part in prostate cancer and similar prostate-related diseases. It's good for ya!
3 :
you could get a urinary tract infection or other diseases but i really doubt it will do anything to your prostate.
4 :
PLAY WITH CLEAN TOYS
5 :
No, otherwise women would be getting Skene's gland cancer from all the vaginal play.
