It depends on how old you are when the diagnosis is made, and what stage the cancer is in. There are many treatment options available, depending on the stage, and your age when diagnosed. In many cases, a man with prostate cancer will not die from that. Instead he will die of something else, sometimes old age, as a matter of fact. The earlier the cancer is detected, the sooner treatment can begin and the cancer either removed or slowed down even more. In that case, you aren't likely to die from prostate cancer at all. Just the diagnosis doesn't mean a death sentence. To learn more about your specific situation, you just need to speak with the urologist treating you.
